I heard Mullas of Pakistan hate basant festival because of some perceived hinduism connection. We all know how proud Pakis are of their arabic ancestry.

HAppy basant dear lahorites, its the only exiting event that we get in one year. I hope there is no ban this time and people are allowed atleast 1 for practice and recalling their kite flying skills.
In the new year holidays I went to the sea shore near by and flew a chinese guddi, you know the one we just see in the pictures. The guddi in which 7 kites are joined in a series and are flown together with an extra long tail. That was on eid day and it actually felt like eid thanks to the releiving exciting sport of kite flying.
    Happy basant

As per hindu calender ‘basant panchmi’ falls on month of maagh on 5th day. This year its on 11th february. According to hinduism its day of begining, welcoming new season basant(spring). This day consider auspicious for students children musicians bcoz this day also marks the worshipping and seeking blessings of devi saraswati (godess of music, knowledge and wisdom) and its also ancient hindu ‘love day’.
